Well just WOW!
When I created the original post about Mica she was in her twelfth year. Now she has just turned 14 and is the oldest Golden Retriever we have had – absolutely fantastic.

For sure Mica is slow but she is still bouncing around when its time for a walk – well a stroll now! and still in your face when its feeding time.
Mica has gone deaf with her old age – a plus for her as she can completely ignore us unless we make eye contact! – great for her when she wants to go off into the undergrowth to check out the fox dens!
Going deaf hasn’t been that difficult to manage. Mica quickly learnt the hand signals we now use – eye contact, hand signal and all is good.

Having gone deaf we can no longer tell her to go and lie down and be quiet when she’s barking for food or attention – she’s taken full advantage of that and encourages her daughter Ember to join in!
What does the future hold for Mica – who knows but I love still having this fabulous dog in my life and will enjoy every minute of her presence.
