Golden Retrievers - Affectionately known as Swamp Collies

We love all dogs but the breed closest to our hearts is Golden Retrievers

WELCOME TO OUR SITE

Our aim is to put together a site focused (but not exclusively)  on Golden Retrievers that we hope you will find informative, helpful and entertaining.

We’ll share the experiences, photos and stories of the Golden Retrievers we’ve had over the years. The ups, the downs, the happy, the sad.

A DOG AS PART OF THE FAMILY

Having a dog as part of the family has (at least in our experience) been fantastic in so many ways.

The pleasure, comfort, fun and memories derived from letting them in have most definitely enriched our lives.

Dogs offer and if allowed, can bring so much to our lives and when you think about it in reality they ask for very little in return.

Are there downsides? Sure but for us the upsides win by far.

Golden Retrievers and water!

This photo is our second Golden Retriever named Fern taken, from the banks of Loch Morlich near Aviemore in the highlands of Scotland.

She was staring intently at the wild fowl on the surface of the water. Though not a working dog some of her breed characteristics were strong.

Getting A Golden Retriever?

Having a dog is a great experience but it doesn’t matter if it’s a Golden Retriever or another breed you need to be sure you know what your letting yourself in for and the commitment your signing up to!

Golden Retriever Chracteristics

Think of water, mud and swamps and your thinking of a Golden Retriever’s play area and hence why they are affectionately known as Swamp Collies! There is however so much more to the breed.
